MoA recognises that there is little funding available for architecture projects and initiatives. We want to change that.
We are setting up the Museum of Architecture Incubator (MoA Inc) to provide expertise and financial support to projects that help the architectural industry grow. The first round of calls will be announced in November 2017.
As the mission of the Museum is to help engage the public and grow the industry, we will champion projects that respond to one or both of these initiatives. We anticipate the outcomes of the funded projects to include products, services, research collaborations with other industries, personal skill and growth initiatives, toolkits and more.
How will it work?
The call will be open to students, architects, practices and members of the public or other industries who are looking to collaborate with members of the built environment.Successful applicants will be given a six week business course where they will learn best practice skills from experts that include: running a project including time management, budgeting, team building, leadership, business development, legal advice and more.
After the course, successful applicants will be given their grant funding and will attend a monthly group session to discuss how they are getting on with their projects, what they are struggling with and what help them need to achieve their project goals. They will also be able to liaise with the experts throughout the duration of their work.
The applicants will be given a twelve month time period in order to use their funding. This will enable them to participate in the collective knowledge of the group to develop their projects.
Model for growth
We aim to raise £100,000 by November 2017 for our initial funding call.
We will aim to raise £500,000 a year by 2020. We anticipate funding to come from architects, developers, and industry partners. The funding will be split between the successful applicants, the expert advisors, MoA management costs, and marketing the programme in order to get the best applicants.
MoA is accepting applications for the Beta phase of the incubator programme. We will work with individuals and groups on a time sharing basis (the amount of time we or our experts spend with you is the amount of time we would ask for you to volunteer with us).
If you have any questions about MoA INC , would like to propose a project idea for entry into the incubator, or would like to donate to the fund please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
